Fachschaften (student bodies)
General information
The representation of a student body of a faculty is governed by Sections 26 to 28 (GO THWS).
The student body represents students' faculty-related interests. Official means may be used for this. It consists of seven students elected as faculty councillors. The two faculty councillors with the most votes chair the representation and can delegate responsibilities to the other 5 councillors.
Responsibilities of the faculty councillors:
- Participation and votes in the faculty council (central committee of the faculty). The responsibilities are laid down in detail in the Basic Order for THWS (Section 10).
- They cooperate closely with the dean and the professors; they also listen to the concerns of students at their faculty
- They may participate in official meetings
- They participate in the allocation of grants (part of the faculty's Committee of 6 ("6er-Gremium))
- Management of the student body of the faculty.
- Faculty councillors are automatically members in the student bodies council and thus members of the student council.

Organisation of a student body:
The student body is the smallest organisational unit of the students' representation. A student body is organised by location or by degree programme.
They consist of committed students. They do not need to be elected. Interested students may simply contact the relevant student body. Members of the student council are also included. Often, they act as chairs of the student bodies and take on organisational tasks and act as contact persons.
Rooms and access:
Every student body has a room at their location (sometimes shared with others). These rooms can be accessed via the THWS student card and is limited to the individual location. The student council grants access.
Student body meetings:
Each student body organises their own meetings. The student body decides how often the meetings take place and how they are organised etc.
