Student bodies

General information

The representation of a student body of a faculty is governed by Sections 26 to 28 (GO THWS).

The student body represents students' faculty-related interests. Official means may be used for this.

It consists of 7 students, who successfully ran for election for the faculty council. Two faculty councillors chair the representation and can delegate responsibilities.

Responsibilities of the faculty councillors:

  • Participation and votes in the faculty council: The faculty council is a supervisory committee of the faculty. Among others, it decides upon semesters of leave. The responsibilities are laid down in detail in the Basic Order for THWS (Section 10).
  • They cooperate closely with the dean and the professors; they also listen to the concerns of students at their faculty
  • They may participate in official meetings
  • They hold 50% of the votes and are part of the faculty's Committee of 6 ("6er-Gremium) (in charge of distributing the study allowances of the faculty)
  • The faculty councillors chair the student bodies of the respective faculty and organise the constituent meetings of the individual student bodies.
  • Faculty councillors are automatically members in the student bodies council and thus members of the student council.

Student bodies

Organisation of a student body:

The student body is the smallest organisational unit of the students' representation. A student body is organised by location (SW, RöRi, SHL) or by individual student bodies of one location (Münzstraße: student body Social Work, student body Media Management, student body Business and Economics).

Most members of the student bodies are students wanting to engage in voluntary work to help their fellow students. They do not need to be elected. If they are interested, they simply contact the relevant student body. Often, members of the student council and the student senate are also members of the student bodies.

Ex officio, the faculty councillors are also members of the student body. If the chair is not elected in a separate election, the faculty councillors act as chair. the chair is in charge of the student body, meetings, events, rooms etc. They also act as contact persons.

STV spaces:

At every THWS location, there is a designated space for the student bodies, i.e. an office or a room. At Münzstraße, the student bodies share a room.

Members of the student bodies may use their student ID cards to access these rooms (upon request). The locations in Würzburg and Schweinfurt are separately administered, i.e. Schweinfurt students may only access rooms in Schweinfurt, Würzburg students may only access rooms in Würzburg.

The chair of the student council and/or the person appointed by them are in charge of access rights administration.

Student body meetings:

The student body meetings are organised independently. The student body decides how often they meetings take place, how they are organised etc. The frequency of the meetings may vary from once a month to once a semester.
